Life "Painting"

Kurt and I started going to life drawing on the weekends again. We have been trying to focus a lot on melding traditional subject with digital tools. Here are my paintings from this last weekend. The colors are a little off on my laptop so these have a bit too much of a sienna feel to them, either way, i had a ton of fun. Next time we go i will take a pic of the set up i am using

i totally forgot i hadnt posted these. the tractor and the pond shore were from when my good friend miles took me out to the copolla property in napa for a few nights. that was a pretty surreal experience. the doberman i did for another great friend as a thank you for letting me crash on his couch on and off for about a month. seriously, one of the best summers ever

these are done in gouache in a water color moleskine. all i brought on my trip was white and a bunrt umber i believe. the dog is a bit truer to color than the other two photos

was playing around with her colors and hair tonight. the 2 little blue spots on her lip and nose aren't glitches, they are placeholders for her piercings.

was running around a lot this weekend so i didnt get to put as much time into this as i would have liked to...but she is definitely making some progress. this is the low poly in the marmoset engine. there are still some touch ups and stuff to be made plus all of her accessories. the face how it is now, doesnt have a normal or spec map so im hoping that is gonna boost it up a lot more when i get them in there

so, that cyberpunk lookin girl in my last post was a costume design for this model i am working on. there are still small elements to be added and...well, you know, texturing. but im digging her roughed in state. these are both done with a couple overlays in zbrush.

so, i got a new computer and as im organizing my files from all of my old hard drives and computers onto this new mega beast i have found that i have MANY close to finished projects that got swept to the side because of busy schedule, or another model or whatever. anyway, im trying to go through them all and get them through that last step to something presentable.

here is the first step on this character. he was a demo i did when i was teaching and i want to revamp him a bit. i tossed a new color scheme on him and hope that will spark some ideas on how i want to change the sculpt.

here is a little cartoony tree i did last night and touched up a little this morning. i couldnt draw last night so this girl i was talking to told me to listen to "spice up your life" by spice girls...im kind of wierded out at how well it worked. i got to the point where i couldnt go to sleep and needed to at least splash down some shapes before my eyes would stay shut. i have a lot more to touch up and do to it, but i need to start working now

went to siggraph, geeked out over a bunch of production art. there are a couple start up companies that caught my eye, they are doing some really fun looking stuff. anyway, i tried my hand at a little forest scene, this is a little under an hour in, and toward the end there was a gnarly reconstruction of it so it is a lot looser than it was half way through. hehe

just got a new wacom today. got the 6x11 intuos...so nice. ive been using a 4x6 and it is no good. having so much space to play with is kind of amazing and feels so natural compared to noodling in a tight little area. anyway, here is my quickie i did on it tonight
